Miami Platja

The Ebro Delta

About 30 minutes by car, south of Miami and L'Hospitalet, we have the Ebro Delta Natural Park, one of the largest wetlands in Mediterranean Europe.

The Ebro Delta offers us an incomparable, unique and singular natural setting. A landscape of great biological richness that brings together a diversity of flora and fauna of incalculable value. With a surface area of 320 km2, it is the largest aquatic habitat in Catalonia and represents an enclave of vital importance within the wetlands of the Mediterranean. Its biological richness contrasts with the profound humanisation and agricultural transformation of a large part of its surface. In order to make possible the harmony between the natural values of the area and its exploitation by humans, and at the request of its inhabitants, the Generalitat constituted the Ebro Delta Natural Park in 1983. Its importance is recognised on an international scale by the most important specialised bodies.

Tarragona

Located about 20 minutes from Miami and L'Hospitalet, it has its origins in the Roman city of Tarraco, capital of the Roman Empire in the Iberian Peninsula.

He hoped that Minerva would protect them. That is why, with his dagger, the Roman centurion Manius Vibius left an inscription in relief on the tower dedicated to the goddess of wisdom. Without knowing it, he had just made the oldest Latin inscription on the peninsula. He was an Etruscan and commanded the soldiers who were building the walls of Tarraco, the oldest Roman construction in Europe outside the Italian peninsula. Rome had landed in Hispania and was here to stay.

In Tarragona history comes out of the stones, out of the books and comes to life. The city has specialised in historical reconstruction activities. Archaeologists, historians, scriptwriters, narrators and actors work hard to disseminate and share the history of the city and our classical civilisation.

Reus

Located in the heart of the Costa Daurada, about 20 minutes from Miami and L'Hospitalet, Reus is a typical Catalan city, with a Mediterranean character, renowned as a shopping city, as well as for its modernist heritage and its close links with the universal architect Antoni Gaudí.

Of medieval origin and with almost a thousand years of history, the city experienced its moment of splendour from the 18th century onwards, thanks to the export of eau-de-vie produced in the city. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the great modernist buildings were built in Reus, making it, after Barcelona, the most important modernist city in Catalonia. Today, the city has one of the most important modernist-style buildings in Europe, which can be discovered on the Modernisme Route, an itinerary through the 26 most outstanding buildings of this style in the city, among which the works of the great architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, who built the Pere Mata Institute, the Navàs house, the Rull house and the Gasull house in Reus, are particularly noteworthy.

Barcelona

Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of the Catalonia region, is renowned for its art and architecture. The fantastic Sagrada Familia church and other modernist landmarks designed by Antoni Gaudí adorn the city. The Picasso Museum and the Joan Miró Foundation showcase the modern art of the artists who gave their names to the city. The Museum of the History of Barcelona (MUHBA) includes several Roman archaeological sites. Barcelona's history spans four thousand years, from the end of the Neolithic period, with the first remains found in the city's territory, to the present day. The substratum of its inhabitants brings together Iberian, Roman, Jewish, Visigothic, Muslim and Christian peoples. It has forged its relevance over time, from being a small Roman colony (Barcino) to becoming, as the capital of Catalonia and the second most important city in Spain, a city valued internationally for aspects such as its economy, artistic heritage, culture, sport and social life.
